Main Idea: Whereas PTSD triggers a “right response / wrong time and place” reactions to external threats, Moral Injury creates a “guilt and/or shame” response to internal threats.
The five main ideas for this lesson are:
A. Another, different internal hurt… Moral Injury is not PTSD.
B. Moral Injury deals with the issues of right and wrong, and it is complex.
C. Where Moral Injury originates— the common thread.
D. Common “behaviors” on the surface, but different internal feelings.
E. The suicide rate = more likely driven by Moral Injury than PTSD
